What We’re Throwing in March (Hopefully)
New for 2025, and to help better incentivize your membership and participation at Northwoods Bass, I will be showcasing the EXACT lures and baits that we will be using on a monthly basis.
Notably, I hate writing about lures specifically because they are nothing more than tools for the job and it gets boring quickly. But what I do enjoy about lure coverage is when we can get into the specifics behind them – including the how’s, when’s, where’s, and why’s.
Since every month of fishing will be different, and each month will also not evolve as anticipated, each month’s lure coverage will differentiate for largemouths and smallmouths.
Right now, we are in the middle of winter, and she is unwilling to transition to ice-out, and early spring. Last year in Northern Illinois, the pond out in back was ice free by February 28th! Meanwhile in the Minocqua area, some lakes were already ice free by the 4th week of March. Currently, I have 8 to 10 inches of ice on the pond, with half foot of snow on top. Up north, we’ve got over 2 feet of ice with another foot of snow on top. It’s going to be a while until we see open water anywhere, but I am still hopeful f
