Smallmouth Fishing with Kids
One of life’s greatest blessings is fishing with children, and introducing a youngster to the sport. There’s nothing quite like happiness and smiles, the eagerness to learn and soak up the knowledge, and the entertainment a child can provide for the boat. While my wife Amanda and I are not quite there yet ourselves with having our own children to fish with and pass knowledge and traditions down to, I have been lucky to have hosted several guide customers who brought their young children aboard for the trip day. Instead of focusing the trip on the paying customer (dad) and what he wanted to do, the day’s fishing strategy was centered on the young anglers in the boat. If you’re in most dad’s positions, it’s a wise strategy to rely on a guide’s knowledge and his patience for achieving a successful day on the water.
