Northwoods Bass Fishing Report – Mid October, 2023
Thank goodness! Good fishing is finally being had. It's been a rough "autumn" (I mean fake summer) up until last week. And ever since our last two cold-fronts and cool-downs, things have finally come around for most fish species! It's big fish only right now. As you all know from my end, and have experienced yourselves as well, September into early October sucked. Things were too warm, and fish weren't moving. But now, that's history. In a week from now, we might even start seeing some snow showers. And then the cold water period should begin. Smallmouths and muskies are each going for me. I've been targeting muskies more than bass this month. I've been on the water for the better part of the last 2 weeks - the first week of October, and mid-week last week through mid-week this week. During this time, we fished from 80 degree weather to 40 degree weather. I also witnessed turnover taking place. First things first, here is where we are at regarding turnover.
