Northwoods Bass Fishing Report – Mid August, 2024
Since I fished last week in between my boat and cabin projects, I figured to check in with a mini mid-month report. A lot of patterns from July have carried over into August month, and while we will still have some lingering heat this week and next I'd expect some good end of summer fishing to continue.
We are now a few weeks past summer peak, and while things have remained steady and consistent these past few weeks, some slight changes will be happening across every fishery when the next cool-downs come. The biggest will be plant life decay, fish relocating to different lake habitats, the invasion of weedlines, shallow water movements and feeding, and continued algae blooms. The biggest of them all will be the decline in water temps, as last week we saw them drop to 69-70.
Largemouth fishing continues to be reliable and good. Didn't find any big ones in the limited time last week, but a steady number of action fish. Whether we get heat waves or coldfronts these next few weeks, those will be the two windows you should want to go on the hunt for a trophy. These next several weeks, begin prioritizing the deepest available green weedlines located in main lake areas
