Northwoods Bass Fishing Report – Early to Mid November, 2024
Since my last report and newsletter from second week of October, the lakes were quickly finishing up with turnover then. That’s been long done, and now the bass are wintering. Whatever fish you catch from now to first ice will be in deep water and associating to some type of contour and bottom structure. As of a week ago, I thought we were going to have a longer fall season, lasting into early December, but it appears mother nature has finally made up her mind and is now delivering the necessary cold air to deliver winter. I thought I'd also get another report out (prior to this one), but I had been saving everything I could for last. We recently ended our year on smallmouths. On November 13th, I winterized and shut down. Smallmouths in November continue to be a blessing. Big fish were caught the first two weeks of November. This fall was the longest, warmest, most prolonged and gradual cooldown I’ve ever experienced. It made the fishing more predictable, and gave our fish a longer growing season. Despite the comfortable fishing and prolonged season, I've been seeing and reading a lot of mixed emotions, feelings, and reports out there. Some did great.
