Hump Jumping Bass
On a trip day last season, while navigating my way around the thousand-acre lake, I was observant of my Lowrance HDS-12 Live C-Map and Navionics Charts. Up until that point, smallmouth and largemouth were not biting with much frequency and fervor for my customer and me.
As we continued following the course of our lake’s extensive milk run, I veered off track toward a piece of half-assed charted topography that stood out to my eye. Having never fished it before, both mapping programs did not have this location precisely charted, lacking detail. We quietly idled around it, studying the screen and observing the unique depth fluctuations and its bottom transitions down below.
“Look at this little unique structure,” I pointed to customer, Jeff. “You’d think this would be attractive for smallmouth in mid summer. I want to quickly check this spot before we go any further!” I instructed again.
