Wisconsin’s most comprehensive, timely, informative, relevant, and non-BS honest fishing reports. Published monthly by Andrew Ragas.

Thank you everyone for the recent surge in inquiries and bookings. As I do at the end of each winter, I wanted to quickly publish this post to give you an itinerary of what this upcoming fishing season could look like from the perspective from my boat, and as an aid for you as
Smallmouths in November are a bonus, and this was a first for me. Most diehard anglers should have another 1 to 2 weeks of fishing season left.
Thank goodness! Good fishing is finally being had. It’s been a rough “autumn” (I mean fake summer) up until last week. And ever since our last two cold-fronts and cool-downs, things have finally come around for most fish species! It’s big fish only right now.
These last few weeks have been tough and challenging. We’re not getting the cooldowns we need, and this is NOT what we had expected. This month has been the most difficult fishing we’ve had all year up to this point.
By the time this gets published and gets read by you, the first official cool-down of fall 2023 will be happening. The forecast for September smallmouth into next week looks outstanding!
Finally checking in with a report for the first time in three weeks! My favorite fishing partner (Mrs. Ragas) and I just concluded annual vacation week. We jumped a bunch of lakes over the last week. While we (she mostly!) made it look easy, the fishing was pretty challenging each day. We got lucky
In unsurprising fashion, summer has been a blur. Been fishing lots, and traveling back and forth frequently since late May. I also got sick over Independence Day, which brought me down for a week. I recovered enough to return to the water last week.
Hi everyone, fishing has remained good-to-great, as we enter the first days of July. I just got off the water this week, and evade the tourists. July holiday is the one week of the year I don’t want to be up north. Smallmouth fishing has remained good and above average. We didn’t focus on
Bass have spawned long ago. The water temps are getting both high and low. The mayflies are hatching. And I finally got my boat back with new motor install done! What’s there not to like about middle of June fishing?
