It’s an excellent feeling to be pursuing and casting for smallmouths once again! For the remainder of this month and the limited time I will have through May 20th, my boat will be targeting them exclusively unless a junk weather day or repeat of last week necessitates having to return to largemouths.

  Season’s greetings everyone, and hopefully you shall be the recipient of many timely, relevant, and frequent fishing reports throughout 2024. Even though my year is only 4 days old, it has been excellent. The only species I have focused on up this point are largemouths.

  Smallmouths in November are a bonus, and this was a first for me. Most diehard anglers should have another 1 to 2 weeks of fishing season left.

  Thank goodness! Good fishing is finally being had. It’s been a rough “autumn” (I mean fake summer) up until last week. And ever since our last two cold-fronts and cool-downs, things have finally come around for most fish species! It’s big fish only right now.

  These last few weeks have been tough and challenging. We’re not getting the cooldowns we need, and this is NOT what we had expected. This month has been the most difficult fishing we’ve had all year up to this point.

  By the time this gets published and gets read by you, the first official cool-down of fall 2023 will be happening. The forecast for September smallmouth into next week looks outstanding!

  Finally checking in with a report for the first time in three weeks! My favorite fishing partner (Mrs. Ragas) and I just concluded annual vacation week.
